The Center for Neurosurgical Research seeks to further our understanding of the neurobiological basis of human behavior and brain disorders. We do this by leveraging clinical intracranial interventions, which allow direct access to human brain activity. These interventions are used to treat and diagnose a variety of disorders, including epilepsy and movement disorders such as Parkinson’s Disease. They involve the implantation of invasive electrodes on the surface (Electrocorticography, ECoG) or deep in the brain (stereotactic EEG, sEEG).

The CNRS is an interdisciplinary center integrating neurosurgeons and neuroscientists supporting collaborations focused on understanding a wide range of cognitive processes such as decision-making, theory of mind, memory, etc. and how they are affected in neurological and neuropsychiatric conditions.
